WHY WHOLE FOODS CEO's PLAN FOR ALTERNATIVE TO OBAMACARE IS IDIOTIC
"The controversy over Whole Foods CEO John Mackey's anti-ObamaCare stance is now well into its third round. It all started with Mackey's August 11 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. In it, Mackey argued that "the last thing our country needs is a massive new health-care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health-care system." He presented, instead, The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare:
1. "Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts."
2. "Equalize the tax laws so that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits."
3. Allow competition across state lines.
4. "Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover."
5. "Enact tort reform."
6. "Make costs transparent."
7. "Enact medicare reform."
8. Revise tax law to make it easier to donate to those without insurance."
-------------------snip-------------------
These "top 8" solutions, the WHOLE FOODS ALTERNATIVE gives this blogger the idea
he SHOULD and will NOW boycott Whole Foods. Who knows, Readers Digent is going into bankruptcy so, maybe with a little boycotting we can do that to WF (Whole Foods).
1. Insurance companies are certainly a problem, but he does not spell out these "legal obstacle". Actually, there are none, since insurance companies are so
poorly regulated in my experience, they get away with murder. We have around
50 million with no health care insurance because of the draconian rules of
"for profit" insurance companies.
2. Health insurance is just plain TOO EXPENSIVE and that's why most small business
owners don't / can't offer it to their employees. Tax breaks will have no substantial effect, and as a small business owner, I can tell you that.
3. Allow competition across state lines. LOL..are you talking about Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota compete with BC/BS of Texas? Get a grip Mackey, you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
4. Is just so much bovine feces it's not even worth wasting digital print over.
5. "Exact tort reform". Idiots like Mackey have NO idea of what they are talking about. The words "tort reform" is usually anti-patient legislation meant at capping
recovery on Med Mal cases. Number one, a large study showed that where these caps were instituted state by state, the costs of Med Mal coverage for doctors did NOT drop and in fact, in many cases, MED MAL premiums continued to rise.
BAD DOCTORS WHO HURT PATIENTS NOT ONLY NEED TO BE SUED, BUT SHOULD HAVE THEIR
LICENSE TAKEN AWAY TO MAKE WAY FOR GOOD DOCTORS!
6."Make costs transparent" - Your health insurance costs you a grand a month...
that doesn't need more transparency...you NEED a government single payer to deal with this kind of GREED!
7."Enact medicare reform." - Good Luck SLICK!
8."Revise tax law to make it easier to donate to those without insurance."-
This last one really shows how OUT OF TOUCH Mackey the Lackey is with the working man, and shows how really retarded the "trickle downers" are. The notion that the rich, who often got to be rich by ripping other people off, and having predatory business methods, suddenly get hearts of gold and start shelling out billions for those without insurance, smacks of the kind of retardation that George Bush had.
Rich people like money. Rich people are greedy. Rich people don't donate to enable FIFTY MILLION WITHOUT HEALTH CARE INSURANCE to suddenly have it. This isn't a five dollar handout proposition. The ONLY way to insure at free or affordable costs 1/6 of the population, is through government intervention and single payer, ala Canada, Great Britain, or even hybrid care like France.

SENATE BILL 1314 IS DEAD THANKS TO THE TCA, AND THANKS TO MANY PEOPLE
I am happy to report that in Texas, SENATE BILL 1314, AN ATTACK ON CHIROPRACTIC, IS DEAD. This good outcome comes as a result of the hard work of the TCA as well as doctors, patients, and citizens across our State who stood up and said NO to this bizarre attack on Chiropractic. But, it does leave many of us asking the question, WHY DID REPUBLICAN LAWYER CHRIS HARRIS, BORN IN CALIFORNIA, INTRODUCE SB 1314 TO BEGIN WITH ?
